Triple H announces WWE Womens Tournament, possibly in the works for this summer

During an interview with The Wrestling Compadres podcast by Fox Sports, WWE COO Triple H confirmed that there is in fact a WWE womens tournament in the works for sometime this year, most likely in the summer. In the same vein of the Cruiserweight Classic held last summer and the WWE UK Championship Tournament last weekend, this womens tournament would feature unsigned (most likely) female professional wrestlers from around the globe, probably a mix of some big names and some that are relatively unknown.

This is amazing news for womens wrestling considering that just 5 years ago this would sound like a near impossible feat, but in the past few years as we have seen, the WWE womens division has actually finally started to feel like a division of legitimate wrestlers rather than just models who pull each others hair, which was all that it was for the better part of two decades. I am excited to see who WWE will bring in to this tournament, and hopefully just like the CWC it will include a mix of veteran talent, up and comers, and established indy stars (Candice LeRae anyone? I mean she is the wife of one half of the  NXT Tag Team Champions….)

Cheers!
