Suplexes & Spandex’s Five-Point Preview For The January 30th 2017 Edition of Monday Night Raw!

Following an eventual Royal Rumble last night, tonight’s Monday Night Raw has a few things to address as we truly begin on the road to WrestleMania.

Point #1: The Club strikes gold

After months of hunting for the tag belts, The Good Brothers Gallows & Anderson (the artists formerly known as The Club) have finally gotten those straps around their waists after defeating Sheamus & Cesaro (the artists otherwise known as Shesaro, Ceamus, Team Very European) for the Raw Tag Team Championships on the 2017 Royal Rumble Kick-off Show. Whether Sheamus & Cesaro will invoke their rematch clause for the tag-belts or implode after their loss last night along with some failures at communicating during the Rumble match itself are yet to be seen, but the Raw tag division needs as many hands as it can get right now, and Lord knows that we have already seen New Day versus Gallows & Anderson enough already. Shining Stars, anyone?

Point #2: The King of The Cruiserweights Claims His Throne

Neville has been on an absolute warpath throughout the WWE Cruiserweight Division since his return from injury in December and has self-appointed the moniker “King of The Cruiserweights”, and his campaign culminated last night when he defeated Rich Swann for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship at the Royal Rumble. Swann and Neville are probably going to continue going at it for the near future, but with a division full of potential star power, there are multiple possible future contenders ready for the spotlight: Cedric Alexander, Jack Gallagher, and Akira Tozawa just to name a few.

Point #3: The Kevin Owens Show Rolls on For Another Season….With The Help of A Monster

Last night, Kevin Owens defended his WWE Universal Championship against Roman Reigns in a No DQ with Chris Jericho held above the ring in a shark cage to avoid interference but, you know, shenanigans. Braun Strowman interfered, helping to keep Roman down just long enough for KO to score the pinfall. It seems as if Reigns is now on his way out from the Raw title scene but whether he will be feuding with Strowman or one of the men that he eliminated from the Royal Rumble last night after making a surprise entrance at #30 (To the joy of many!), The Undertaker, is still unknown at this point. But, hey, at least the two best friends are still running Raw!

Point #4: The Queen Retains! Woooooo!

Bayley came up short last night in challenging Charlotte for the Raw Womens Championship, and The Queen not only retains her belt, but also her PPV undefeated streak! We will definitely hear all about this from Charlotte tonight, and hopefully Bayley gets another shot at the gold….WrestleMania? I am almost happy that Bayley didn’t win last night, so that they can wait to pull the trigger on her title win and make it mean just all that much more. Many tears will be shed. Manly tears. Very, very, manly tears.

Point #5: Stephanie McMahon and Seth Rollins, Face To Face!

Rollins is on the hunt for Triple H, and his hunt led him to San Antonio this past Saturday when he made a surprise appearance at NXT Takeover and called out The King of Kings himself. The Game did show up, but only to lead Seth Rollins out of the arena via security guards. Not only that, but HHH also kicked Rollins out of last nights Royal Rumble, so as Seth Rollins and Stephanie McMahon come face to face tonight, you know that Seth is going to have a lot to say to the Billion Dollar Princess.

Make sure to tune into WWE Monday Night Raw tonight at 8/7c on the USA Network to catch up on everything, and as always follow @SuplexesSpandex on Twitter for news updates from the wrestling world along with articles and reviews written by yours truly. Cheers!
